I hope you all enjoyed the Easter break .  As we embark upon the summer term we are certainly eagerly anticipating a much-needed change in the weather!

Our whole school assembly this week was on the theme of ‘teamwork’ and was led by the Senior Leadership Team.  Alex Hughes, Year 10, brought an excellent musical item and played an Italian piece most impressively, from memory.

During the Easter holidays a number of Year 10 students participated in the school ski trip to Amade, Austria.  As with the weather in Wales recently, there was plenty of snow and all students were able to ski freely every day as planned.  Both students and staff made good progress in the sport and clearly had a fantastic time, with a variety of extra entertainment also being provided throughout the trip.

Last weekend, a large number of Year 11 students successfully battled the elements on a Duke of Edinburgh Silver Practice expedition in the Llangollen area.  Despite mainly poor weather our students’ spirits remained undampened and each participant is now ready for the examined expedition.

Many Key Stage 4 and 5 students have now begin their external examinations.  This week our A-Level musicians have successfully undertaken their practical examinations and all students in Year 10 have completed a further Welsh Baccalaureate challenge.

Exams now come thick and fast in all shapes and sizes and we are confident that the rigorous preparations undertaken by our students will stand them all in good stead for the next three months.

This can be a demanding time for students and indeed their families.  Thank you for all the care and support which you provide to help our children through.  Please do let me know if you feel there is anything else which we can do to assist you in this.

Our canteen team are now sporting smart new uniforms and are eager to maintain a highly professional service and produce food of good quality for all who dine in the building.

Many congratulations to Ruby Jones of Year 9 who came a highly creditable 4th in her 50m Butterfly swimming event in Cardiff last weekend.  The Commonwealth games are now in her sights!

And finally, we wish our Site Supervisor, Mr. Paul Muncey, all the very best as he runs the London Marathon once again next weekend.  Paul is running in aid of ‘Children with Cancer’ and would be very grateful indeed for any further sponsorship which can be completed online here.

Have a lovely weekend.
