Castell Alun Charity Fitness Challenge 2021

This January staff at Castell Alun High School have been running, walking and cycling in order to raise funds for two amazing causes close to the school’s heart.

The Main Challenge

The main challenge is to complete 120, 000 minutes of exercise, which is equivalent to 2000 hours over January. The exercises which staff are completing during their daily exercise session, outside of school hours, include running, walking, cycling, swimming, or any type of fitness session (including yoga session, pilates, HIIT, metafit etc).

The Second Challenge

The second challenge is to beat the mileage of our last challenge – over 5K miles!

The Causes

The two causes we are raising money for are very personal to the staff here at Castell Alun. Below is a summary of both causes and links to donate to each.

Lewis

Lewis White is son of our Headteacher’s PA, Sharon. As a result of numerous medical issues from a very young age, Lewis needs specialist equipment and facilities such as a wheelchair, ramps, new bathroom, flooring and much more to help him access everyday necessities that we may take for granted. Please visit the link above to read Lewis’ full story of determination and strength over tragedy as well as the option to make a donation to help make this amazing young man’s life more comfortable.

Jo

Jo Britten worked at Castell Alun High School for over 12 years before her career was sadly cut short due to early onset of Huntington’s disease. In 2020 Jo lost her father to the same disease and since then she has been a tireless campaigner for the Huntington’s Disease Association since her father’s diagnoses, a charity which Jo herself now relies on. Please visit the link below to read Jo’s full story as well as the option to make a donation to help people suffering from this terrible illness.
