Friday 30th June 2017

On Monday we welcomed students from other high schools who have applied to join our Sixth Form next year for an induction day.  They attended lessons with our current Year 12.  We look forward to them joining and enhancing the Sixth Form in September.

Our Science and Technology transition week has gone really well with our new Year 7 intake getting a great headstart in the laboratories and technology rooms.  All the students I talked to thoroughly enjoyed the experience and certainly made a great first impression.

We are also really looking forward to welcoming all of our new Year 6 students for their formal induction day next Friday. This follows the New Intake Parents’ Evening at 6.30pm next Wednesday.

Our Year 12 trip to Berlin and Krakow departs today. Thanks to all the staff involved in what is always a life changing experience for the students.

We also have our Year 10 Languages trip departing for France on Monday together with our Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award students who are travelling to Derbyshire on Sunday for their three day expedition.

Well done to the following Year 7 and 8 girls who participated in the National Schools Cheerleading Championships on Sunday 25th June at Manchester Velodrome.  They performed amazingly well and represented the school impeccably throughout the very long day.  They were on top form as they entered all opportunities throughout the day and supported one another as well as other schools.

Their hard work and efforts paid off as they came second in the Small Group Cheer category.  Miss Davies has asked me to say thank you to Holly Atkinson, Year 11 who coached the following girls endlessly through lunchtime practices – Alisha Lowe, Charlotte Woolley, Kyla Ellis, Jessica Harris, Jess Roberts, Emma Edwards, Millie Edwards, Ella-Louise Ankers-Phillips, Charlotte Clark, Isobel Scott, Lucy Eyes and Abbie Perkins.

Last Friday night I had the pleasure of attending our Year 11 prom at the ‘DoubleTree by Hilton’ in Chester. It was wonderful to see the students enjoying themselves, looking extremely smart and celebrating the end of the examination season. We look forward to seeing them all again on results day in August. Thanks to the group tutors and Mr. O’Connell for organising such a fitting send off for an exceptional year group.
