A number of former Castell Alun students came back to school this week in order to share their experiences with current sixth formers. They form part of the school’s growing alumni community that aims to benefit current members of the school by sharing experiences and expertise. The group, organised by the charity Future First, is an online community that is being used in a number of ways by the school and new members are always welcome.
Learning Manager for Humanities and event organiser, Mr. David Goodchild, said, ‘It was fantastic to welcome so many Castell Alun old boys and girls back to their school. They had a huge amount to share with our current students as well as several anecdotes about their former teachers! To see how successful members of our alumni group have been has helped motivate our year 12 students still further. They enjoyed being able to talk to people from similar backgrounds who have enjoyed success in their lives and careers and who could offer them advice about their next steps. Our visitors came from a range of backgrounds including IT, teaching, the media, the armed forces and business and offered a range of perspectives.’
The school is grateful to all who took part and is looking forward to welcoming more alumni to visit soon. If you are a former Castell Alun student who is interested in going back to school please visit Futurefirst.org.uk
