Parents and students were thrilled with Castell Alun’s exceptional GCSE results this summer.
The outcomes this summer represent one of the best set of results in the history of the school.
Higher grade pass rates in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics were extremely impressive.
Successes of all students were celebrated early on Thursday morning. At the very pinnacle of academic performance were Michael Astbury,
Elliot Bull, Dewi Parry and Adam Rothero, who all achieved a whopping haul of 11 A* grades, in addition to further A grades. Kathryn Austen scored 9A* grades, very closely followed by Adam Bakewell, Freya Davies and Hamish Peffers, who all scooped 8A* grades. Josie Welch, Luke Armstead and Jack Ellis all achieved 6A* grades, along with A grades in nearly all of their other subjects also. Following on very closely was a large group of high performers who all achieved 5A* grades.
Headteacher, Graham Hughes, commented, “The Castell Alun team is proud of each and every one of our young people. I would like to thank all parents, along with teaching and support staff who have worked incredibly hard to provide our students with guidance and encouragement and the best possible learning opportunities. As well as academic success, we’ve got a lot of Year 11 students who are set up with great apprenticeships this year. We’re a school that’s always looking for continuous improvement and we do this by making sure that every individual student gets exactly what they need for their future.”
Student Development Manager for the Year 11 cohort, Mr Andrew Duffy, added, “We are really pleased for our students. Hard work has paid off and it was such a pleasure to see the smiles on their faces on Thursday morning. They’ve enjoyed school life to the full over the last five years and these results have really put the icing on the cake. We wish them well and will welcome the vast majority back in September to join our Sixth Form.
