Information Regarding School Buses (Sep 16)

At the beginning of each term there are always a few ‘teething’ problems with some of our operators and with the demise of the bus company GHA earlier this year this has proven to be the case.

The school is not involved at all in the ‘tendering’ process for the routes and the appointment of the buses for each ‘school run’.  This is all organised through Local Authority School Transport teams, and contact numbers are given below:

Flintshire: 01352 704532

Wrexham: 01978 298996

Mr Kevin Davies, Director of Sixth Form studies, has an ‘oversight’ of the buses in school and monitors/liaises on a daily basis with the relevant local authority.  Any issues are followed up immediately, though the school has to go through the ‘appropriate channels’.

Wrexham authority decided that from this September that there will be no provision for Post 16 transport in their authority, unless it is directly provided by the school. Year 13 students can still use the authority provided transport if they are eligible for an authority provided pass. As a result the school has started a bus service, operating from Wrexham on a daily basis arriving at school via, Garden Village, Gresford,  Marford and Llay.  Obviously to cover the daily cost of this bus the school has to charge for the service. At the moment we have some spaces on the daily service which are on ‘offer’ for a ‘first come, first served basis’.  Please contact Mr Kevin Davies at the school if you are interested in the services of this bus.
