We eagerly await further feedback on our inspection but are able to tell you that inspectors really liked the bilingual feel to our school community. Next week we will celebrate ‘Shwmae Sumae’ in school, with the purpose of encouraging students to use their Cymraeg in a variety of settings. There will be a broad range of activities going on in Welsh lessons and we will run a Welsh Sweet Shop at lunchtime and a scavenger hunt for lower school students. Awards will be given on the spot to recognise students’ efforts for the use of their Cymraeg.

This week I had the pleasure of presenting Melissa Holden, Cara Jones, Sadie Butler, Eleanor Walters, Grace Fleetwood and Ffion Tarran, all Year 11, with their certificates for taking part in this year’s Mold Food Festival with Mrs. Molloy. Thanks for your passion and infectious enthusiasm girls!

Well done to Miss Gittins and Miss Roberts, who have taken part in Pretty Muddy in aid of Cancer Research.

As ever it has been a busy week in the sporting arena. Our Year 7 boys’ Football Team won against Hawarden 1-0 and are now through to the Flintshire Cup semi finals.

We congratulate Sophie Pope, Katie Humphreys, Alicia Williams from Year 9 and Poppy Ellis, Year 8, who have been selected to play for the Under 14 Flintshire Netball Squad – great effort girls! Furthermore, Lilly Cottle of Year 10 has not only been selected for the Under 16s Flintshire Netball Squad, but she has also gained a place in the National Welsh DTC squad. Congratulations Lilly!

Making waves are Holly Kay and Charlotte Davies who both won Gold Medals recently in the NE Wales Swimming Gala. Both girls turned in special performances and Holly actually smashed her 800m freestyle personal best by 25 seconds.

Our Governors Community and Buildings with Sports Centre Committee met this week. The Governors received updates from CAFA, the Community Library and the Sports Centre. Governors expressed their delight that the school family has such positive links with our neighbours.

CAFA are hosting a Ladies’ Festive Fair and Pamper evening on Friday 1st December. There will be a selection of stalls, crafts and beauty products and treatments on display. For further information please see the link on our website.

Well done to Mr Flackett for running in a 5K Colour Run in aid of Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital this past weekend. They managed to raise over £500 in aid of the hospital which hopes to use the funds to purchase equipment for robotic surgery.

This equipment doubles the amount of patients who can undergo minimally evasive surgery, adds an additional 200 bed days per year meaning more people can be treated as well as providing better, safer care especially for their older patients.

Any donations to Mr Flackett’s JustGiving page can be made here.
