I am pleased to report that we have completed our first full week back at school, and standards and expectations are as high as ever.  Our youngest students have a smile on their faces as they navigate the corridors and new students of all ages appear to have settled in very well indeed.

We held our first main assembly of the school year today, and this was led by the Senior Team.  In this assembly we considered the importance of playing our role in the team, whether we are a prominent character or not.

This week we held a very successful UCAS evening for students in Year 13 and their parents and we are keen that all concerned have had an opportunity to gather information which may inform their future career/education choices.

Several of our GCSE Art students from last year currently have work on display in the Education Gallery at Theatr Clwyd in Mold. The exhibition runs until the 2nd October 2018, and the quality of all pieces of work is extremely high.  Please do feel free to pop in and take a look for yourselves, should you have the opportunity.

We ran the first Study Club of the new year on Thursday and a variety of activities were on offer.  A brief reminder – Study Club buses run on Monday and Thursday evenings only, although this does not mean that extra curricular activities are exclusively held on those days only.  We eagerly anticipate the successes of our sports teams this year and will keep you informed via this Blog and our social media presence on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Our CAFA (Castell Alun Friends Association) group will meet on Tuesday at 6.15pm in school.  We are always on the look out for new members, so please do feel free to pop along and check out whether this might be something of interest to you.

I hope you enjoy the weekend.
