It’s been another busy week in the life of the school. As we approach half-term and the nights draw in, it is lovely to be able to tell you about our continued successes in so many different areas.

Our Sixth Form Boys’ football team drew 0-0 at Ysgol Glan Clwyd on Thursday evening but narrowly lost on a penalty shoot-out. Hard luck lads – a tough pill to swallow!

We hosted a number of local business representatives who undertook a Dragons’ Den activity with many of our Year 10 students this week. The ‘Dragons’ were glowing in their praise of our children, their skills, learning ethic and respectful attitudes toward each other and their appraisers.

Our lower school fancy dress fun run was a great success and the rain held off sufficiently for all to have great time. The theme was ‘Halloween’ and we certainly saw some interesting interpretations of scary characters!

Congratulations to Poppy Chamberlin and Ellie Bryan from Year 10 and Gracie Bryan from Year 7 on a fantastic performance in the International Dance World Championships in Cophenhagen this week. Next stop Strictly Come Dancing!

We had a busy day on Monday celebrating ‘shwmae sumae’ day. It was bedigedig (fabulous) to see so many of our students making an extra effort to use their Cymraeg around the school and in different activities. The Year 12 Welsh students helped raise over £50 for Marie Curie, by running a siop fferins (sweet shop) at lunchtime where only Welsh was used to communicate. At lunchtime many lower school students took part in the Welsh scavenger hunt, using their bilingual skills to find the clues around the school. Welsh classes enjoyed using their spoken Welsh in language games during Welsh lessons all week. Diolch yn fawr pawb.

We have received a Public Spaces Protection Order with regard to dog control on the school site from Flintshire CC. If you are a dog owner please be so good as to read the letter on the school website to this end at your earliest convenience.

As we approach our final week of half-term, please note that our Study Club will not run on days when we are holding staff training or Parents’ Evening events. I will endeavour to remind you which dates this applies to through my Blog on a weekly basis.

Have a lovely weekend.
