Our whole school assembly this week was on the theme of Superheroes and was led by Year 7.  Caitlyn and Georgia read beautifully and with a degree of poise and confidence which was worthy of praise in front of such a large audience. Laura provided the musical item with her own arrangement of ‘Don’t go chasing waterfalls’, which incorporated an Ed Sheran style rap in the middle.  Laura’s applause was rapturous and a number of us were stunned by her ability.

This week a number of students in Year 12 attended an Oxford/Cambridge Conference at Aintree, and Food Technology students in Year 12 undertook their practical examination, to mouth-watering effect.  Furthermore, some of our Year 12 Scientists attended a session called ‘Spectroscopy in a suitcase’, whilst our Year 12 Criminologists sat vital controlled assessments.

A group of our Sixth Form Historians were treated to a lecture and discussion from eminent Historian Mr. David Starkey.  We are always keen for our students to have the opportunity to attend the very highest quality events, especially when they are so relevant to courses of study.

On Wednesday a large group of Year 7 students went on a trip to Chill Factore and everyone had a great time.  On Thursday we held our Year 10 Parents’ Evening, which was very well attended indeed.   Thanks to everyone who attended this event, and for all the wonderful comments we received.  Please do keep giving us your feedback on all school matters.

Really well done to our Year 9 girls who came second in the Flintshire Netball playnight this week.  Very impressive stuff!  I’m sure we were really unfortunate to narrowly miss out on first place.

We are already deep into examination season for certain subjects and our Sixth Form Drama, Dance and Music students will sit their practical examinations in the very near future.  From Wednesday to Friday of next week all Year 10 Welsh students will have their oral examinations.  On Thursday and Friday a small number of very lucky Year 9 Modern Foreign linguists will attend a residential course for gifted speakers of languages in Oxford also.

Spring is here, have a lovely weekend!
