Friday 3rd March 2017

On Wednesday, March 1st we celebrated Dydd Gwyl Dewi with our annual whole school assembly. This was led by the Welsh department and year 12 Welsh students, Tomos Edwards, Jack Davies and Shekeira Pritchard.  There was also a report by Emma Pryce and Samantha Short about the recent year 12 trip to Cardiff.

At breaktime staff enjoyed Welsh cakes, with donations for the cakes going to the Marie Curie daffodil appeal.  Year 7 have also competed in the Dydd Gwyl Dewi homework competitions and there have been some fantastic entries. These will be judged by the Welsh department and the winners will be announced in next week’s blog.

Castell Alun Ski Trip 2017

Our Year 10 Ski trip returned from Austria last Saturday.  Every single student has had a fantastic time and despite a number of tumbles everyone also made a great deal of progress with their skiing.  They were very fortunate indeed with the amount of snow and the entertainment provided was also noteworthy!

Year 7 return from Nant BH later this afternoon.  Please see next week’s Blog for further information about all the activities they took part in.

Twenty students from Year 9 attended the Law Courts in Mold yesterday to take part in a ‘justice in a day’ workshop.  Also this week our Sixth Form Psychology and Business students visited Chester Zoo in order to undertake AS and A level coursework.

Year 11 have completed their English speaking and listening assessments this week.  Year 10 will undertake their assessments next week. We wish them the very best of luck.

Our Year 9 Parents’ Open Evening is scheduled for Wednesday 8th March from 4pm.  We warmly invite all parents and students to attend this event in order to receive feedback on progress and advice on possible options of study for the next academic year.
