As our external examination season is now in full flow we will be unable to hold a main school assembly for a number of weeks. Lower school students have undertaken compulsory literacy and numeracy examinations over the last few days, and for some, this has been their first experience of a formal examination setting in the school Sports Hall.

On Tuesday 1st May our Year 9 Boys’ Rugby team performed brilliantly in a match with Hawarden High School. Impressive stuff! Well done also to all Castell Alun students in Years 8 and 10 who represented their school and Flintshire so very well on Wednesday in the NEWAA event at Deeside. A number of other students attended a further athletics meet on behalf of the school on Thursday and also performed to a really high standard.

Many thanks to all parents and carers of students in Year 7 who attended our Parents’ Evening on Thursday. We do value very highly indeed our relationship with you all and the support which you give us. It was a lovely evening and we are thrilled that so many of you expressed your delight in your child’s progress and experience at Castell Alun over the course of the year to date.

As we all look forward to the extended weekend we would like to congratulate Mr. Nick O’Connell and Mr. Craig Hutchinson of our P.E. Department who ran the Chester Half Marathon last weekend. We are pleased to report that both colleagues now able to walk again.

Enjoy the sunshine and the extra day off.
