As I mentioned last week I attended the Celebration of Youth Music at Theatre Clwyd on Friday night.   This is the Flintshire Music School Annual Concert which took place over three nights.  There was a huge amount of talent from all schools on display and I would like to say a particular well done to our students who performed brilliantly and, as always, were a credit to themselves and school :-

The Duke of Edinburgh Bronze expedition last weekend went really well.  All 33 Year 10 students completed the two day route which was a distance of 19km in total with nearly 800m of climbing.  Mr. Duffy has informed me that all the students were in great spirits and really enjoyed themselves.

This morning Mr. Nugent’s Year 7 class held a celebration in the Community Library of a project they have been working extremely hard on this term.  The students worked with Abi Hughes, Creative Agent and Honor Pedican, Creative Practitioner from Lead Creative Schools.  I was extremely impressed with the display which was inspired by the theme of ‘My Space’.  The students had designed tree houses, bunkers and chill out spaces.

A reminder also the Friends of Hope Community Library volunteer group and Castell Alun High School are holding a Hope Community Library 1st Birthday party on Saturday 6th May between 10am – 12pm – everyone is warmly invited.

The external exam season starts next week with Year 11 sitting their first Welsh paper on Tuesday.  Year 7, 8 and 9 are also taking their National Literacy and Numeracy Tests, Year 7 sat their first test this afternoon.  I would like to wish all students the very best of luck in their exams.

In sports news this week well done to our Year 7 and Year 9 teams who both won the Flintshire Rugby Tournaments.
