Castell Alun High School has been overwhelmed with the skill and talent witnessed during the audition process for their forthcoming musical production, ‘School Will Rock You’. The musical uses the music of Freddy Mercury and his rock band, Queen, to tell the story of Galileo and Scaramouche, a young couple on a quest to bring back rock and roll.
Students have been cast in roles and rehearsals are underway for what promises to be an outstanding show. A Year 11 student exclaimed, “I cannot believe I got the female lead role of Scaramouche. The competition in auditions was fierce and I feel incredibly honoured to be given the opportunity to perform this part”.
Drama Subject Leader, Miss Rebecca Lloyd-Jones commented, “We’re all excited about putting on the show. We have some budding stars amongst the student and staff population!”
Asst. Headteacher, Mr Paul Edwards added, “Each time we put a show on we are inundated with students who want to be part of the experience. Of course, musicals like this one are popular with all ages and we are fortunate as a school to have both the staff to make learning experiences like this actually happen and students who can bring all the necessary singing, acting, dancing and other vital theatrical skills in abundance.”
