Year 13 Achievement Ceremony

Year 13 Achievement Ceremony 2014by Paula

A fantastic afternoon was had by Year 13 students, their group tutors, and families and school governors as we said a fond farewell to the oldest students in school, as they now go on to ‘life after Castell Alun’ and the next chapter of their lives.  The Guest Speaker at this year’s Ceremony was Professor Helen James, Pro Vice-Chancellor at Glyndwr University, and it was inspiring to hear how her own learning journey and her actions along the way have paved the way for many more students to choose to follow a similar route. The proceedings were expertly hosted by Mr Kevin Davies, and amazing musical items by Ffion and Sophia brought an emotional tear to the eye.  The highlight for many was hearing about Year 13s’ lifetime best achievements and what their next steps will be.  These brought a proud smile to the students’ and their supporters’ faces alike. What a wonderful way to end the half term and we look forward to a ‘bumper crop’ of results in August, and welcoming everyone back for the Presentation of Certificates Ceremony in December.
