Transitioning from primary school to high school is an exciting journey, and we know you might have a lot of questions. To help make this change a bit easier, we’ve gathered the most common questions from students like you, along with answers from our own high school students. Dive in to this FAQ and find out everything you need to know about your new adventure!

Get your School uniform and PE kit at FR Monkhouse Ltd, 14-16 New Street, Mold. Call 01352 756636 to book an appointment.
You can wear any coat except denims, leather jackets, and track suit tops.
Only one ear stud per ear is allowed. You may wear two plain rings, but large sovereign type rings are not suitable. Body/facial jewellery is not permitted.
No makeup or nail varnish is allowed. That’s the rule.
Ideally, go at break or lunchtime, but if you must, ask your teacher. They will sign your student organiser, which you will need to take with you.
Report the loss to your Group Tutor or ask at reception if it has been handed in. Make sure to write your name on your belongings.
Bullying is taken very seriously at Castell Alun. If you feel unhappy for any reason, tell your Group Tutor or Student Development Manager who will be happy to help.
The library is open to Year 7 during every break and lunchtime.
Use computers during Information Technology lessons and occasionally in other subjects. They are also available for use at lunchtime in G5 or G16.
Tell a teacher who will send you to Student Reception.
On the first day, you will get an Organiser to list every homework assignment. Your Group Tutor will regularly check your Organiser to ensure you’re keeping track of your homework.
See your Subject Teacher or Group Tutor for help.
If you forget to do your homework, most teachers will give you a warning. After two warnings, you may need to stay in for detention.
School ends at 3:15, but the buses don’t leave until 3:22. You have plenty of time, so don’t panic.
Report to Student Reception. Do not walk home! Your parents/carers will be contacted to inform them where you are.
On your first day back, give a note to your Group Tutor explaining your absence or ask your parents/carers to ring in. If you forget, tell your Tutor and bring it the next day. The note needs to be signed by a parent or carer.
If you get lost, ask the first person you see. Both teachers and students should be happy to help. Alternatively, head for Student Reception.
Firstly, ensure you have a genuine reason. If this happens, sign in at Student Reception. Then report to your normal lessons. If you are consistently late, a letter will be sent home to your parents/carers.
Bring a note for your Group Tutor, then sign out at Student Reception.

Leave all medication at the school office. Bring a letter from home explaining what the medication is for and when it needs to be taken.
Ask the teacher who confiscated it when it can be collected and under what conditions.

If you need to leave for another lesson, you will be given a pass in your register. Show this to the teacher to attend your other class.
Yes, you will have to catch up. Speak with your teacher in your next lesson. Ask about what you missed. You can copy notes from a friend’s book.
Ask your Group Tutor. If it’s a PE Club, ask your teacher during a PE lesson.
Yes, but it must be turned off and kept in your bag.
