We recently held an online Safer Internet meeting for parents and carers to promote internet safety and help young people build safe, responsible online habits. Thank you to everyone who took the time to join us and engage with such an important topic. Below, you can watch the recording of the presentation delivered by Gavin O’Loughlin, Flintshire Digital Officer, and you can also access our FAQ document.
We recently held an online Safer Internet meeting for parents and carers to promote internet safety and support our young people in building safe, responsible online habits. Thank you to everyone who took the time to join us. Your engagement, questions, and shared experiences helped make the session both practical and valuable.
The online world can bring real benefits for young people. It can also present challenges, including privacy risks, scams, inappropriate content, and pressure linked to social media. Because technology changes quickly, it helps when families have clear, up-to-date guidance that supports confident decision-making at home. As a school, we want to work alongside parents and carers so that our approach is consistent, supportive, and focused on keeping children safe.
During the meeting, we explored key themes around staying safe online. These included setting boundaries that feel realistic, understanding common risks, and knowing what to do if something goes wrong. We also discussed the importance of open conversations with young people. Regular check-ins can help children feel comfortable asking for help, even when the topic feels awkward or difficult.
This page brings together the materials shared during the session. Below, you can watch the recording of the PowerPoint presentation delivered by Gavin O’Loughlin, Flintshire Digital Officer. The recording covers the main points discussed and includes practical advice for supporting young people with their online choices. Underneath the recording, you will also find a document containing frequently asked questions. This aims to answer common queries raised by families and provide clear next steps.
If you were unable to attend the meeting live, we still encourage you to explore the materials below. Working together, we can help our young people enjoy the benefits of being online, while developing safe and responsible habits that protect their wellbeing.
