Croeso i flog yr wythnos hon! The second week of the Spring term draws to a close, and what a fantastic start it has been!

From the classrooms to the sports fields, there’s been an inspiring buzz of energy and commitment as students and staff embrace the school values of respect, determination, and honesty. It’s wonderful to see everyone setting the tone for a year of growth and success. As the icy spell gives way to warmer days, the change in weather mirrors the positive atmosphere around the school—bright, fresh, and full of promise. Let’s keep this momentum going as we build on the strong foundations of these opening weeks!

Year 10 students proudly welcomed Hope House Children’s Hospice into school to present a £3,316.70 cheque, raised through our Christmas Market. The market was a fantastic success, with students running festive stalls, games, and activities to support this important cause.

Hope House provides vital care for children with life-threatening conditions, and the funds raised will help support their essential work. A representative from Hope House shared how the donation will make a difference, reinforcing the power of community giving. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed—your generosity is truly making an impact!

This week, our talented Year 12 and 13 Performing Arts students visited Ysgol Penyffordd to share their devised theatre piece with the Year 3/4 class. The performance, centered on the theme of stories and the love of reading, was designed to inspire creativity and imagination in the younger pupils. Both the performers and their young audience were superb, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere that celebrated the power of storytelling. Our performers—Aster, Caitlin, Ferne, Maddie, Nia, and Keisha—delivered their roles with professionalism and heart, leaving a lasting impression. It was a wonderful example of how the arts can spark a love of learning in the community!

Year 11’s have undertaken the second week of their mock exam. It has been encouraging to see students embracing the challenges with focus and determination. Alongside their mocks, some students have also been completing units that will contribute directly to their overall external qualifications, demonstrating their commitment to success.

Over the next few weeks, teachers will work closely with students, providing valuable feedback on both their strengths and areas for improvement. This is an important time for reflection, as students assess their performance, celebrate their achievements, and identify the steps they can take to grow further. With hard work and guidance, these experiences will lay the foundation for future success in their exams.

We’d like to wish our Year 8 pupils the very best of luck as they represent North East Wales today in the Utilita Cup Regional Final at Laithwaite Park, Wigan. This is an incredible opportunity to showcase their talent and teamwork on such a prestigious stage. We’re all rooting for their success and we’re sure they’ll make us proud with their effort and sportsmanship. Stay tuned for next week’s School Blog, where we’ll share how they got on—good luck, team!
