Welcome back and a very happy New Year to our whole school community. As we returned after the Christmas holidays, snowy conditions caused some unexpected disruption. However, we thank our parents, students and families for their patience, flexibility and continued support during this time.

Importantly, we are especially grateful to our site team, particularly Pip, who worked tirelessly to keep the campus safe by clearing paths and maintaining access for staff and students.

Meanwhile, Year 11 students began their mock examinations, while Year 10 undertook English assessments and prepared for their own mock exams in February. Overall, the term has already started in a busy and productive way.

Members of the String Group thoroughly enjoyed rehearsals this week and made excellent use of new instruments donated by Theatr Clwyd Music. Consequently, students felt excited to try the equipment, which has already improved both playing quality and musical confidence.

In addition, these instruments will support continued development by giving more pupils opportunities to practise, perform and progress in their musical journey. We are extremely grateful to Theatr Clwyd Music for their generosity and ongoing support of music education.

We are delighted to continue following the journey of our own Britain’s Got Talent star, Olly. His musical career continues to grow, and we are proud to share his latest achievement with the school community.

Olly has been invited to join the world’s biggest Guns N’ Roses tribute band, Guns 2 Roses, for two live performances. As a result, this opportunity reflects his talent, dedication and hard work.

The performances will take place at O2 Academy Islington, London on Friday 23rd January, and O2 Academy Liverpool on Saturday 31st January. Tickets for both shows are available via Ticketmaster.

Our Year 10 football team braved snowy conditions and travelled to Rhosnesni for the next Welsh Cup fixture. The team trailed 2–0 at half time but responded with determination.

After a hard-fought match finished 2–2, the game went to penalties, where the team were narrowly defeated. Nevertheless, the performance showed resilience and commitment in challenging conditions.

A huge thank you goes to Mr Gadie for his continued guidance and support throughout the competition.

As we move forward into the new term, we thank everyone across the school community for their continued hard work and commitment. Overall, it has been a positive start despite the challenges, and we look forward to sharing further successes in the coming weeks.

Diolch yn fawr / Many thanks
