School Blog (14/10/22)

Welcome to the School Blog. Bore Da! Today, we celebrate Shwmae Sumae Day in school. Students have already participated in a live quiz during registration, and various other activities are happening throughout the school today. All KS3 students will engage in a scavenger hunt during their language lessons. At lunchtime, there will be a siop fferins, and Mr. Urdd will make appearances throughout the building. Students are encouraged to wear red, white, and green, embodying the sense of pride in our nation and collective heritage. One key priority for this academic year in our School Development Plan is to further develop bilingualism across our school.

Unfortunately, we must apologise for postponing the planned Duke of Edinburgh information evening scheduled for Thursday, 13th October, at short notice. This was due to unforeseen circumstances, and we will reschedule this key event as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.

KS4 GCSE Religious Studies students are currently studying relationships. To gain deeper insights, Year 11 students conducted a mock wedding. These experiences truly enhance our students’ understanding of key topics in various subject areas.

In further enrichment news, many of our older students participated in an English Literature trip to the Globe Theatre in London this week. Today, the Navy visits Year 10 Food Technology students to deliver cooking masterclasses.

Congratulations to Erin (Year 7), who secured a keenly-contested place on the Manchester Thunder U12 Performance Netball Pathway. They clearly recognise talent! Well done also to our U18 boys’ football team, who won against Ysgol Morgan Llwyd 2-0 in the Welsh Cup, progressing to the next round.

We look forward to seeing everyone at our Year 11 Parents’ Evening next Thursday. Although bookings were made online, we are pleased to welcome you to a live and in-person evening in the school building. Parental feedback indicated a preference for online parents’ evenings, despite occasional technical issues, but for certain key events, being with the teacher in school is also beneficial.

See you back here soon for the next School Blog!
