School Blog (14/11/25)

It’s been a busy and inspiring week at our school, filled with moments of reflection, creativity, and teamwork. From our moving Remembrance Assembly, where the whole school came together to honour those who have served, to the hardworking Gardening Club enhancing our grounds for autumn, there has been so much to celebrate. Our Sixth Form football team and Year 8/9 girls rugby team have also shown incredible determination and skill in their recent fixtures, making us proud with their achievements on the pitch. As we look ahead to upcoming events like the Year 12 Parents’ Evening, it’s wonderful to see our students, staff, and community engaging with such energy and dedication.

On Thursday morning, our whole school community — students, staff, governors, and Reverend Piercy — came together for our Remembrance Assembly, led with great respect and thoughtfulness by our Sixth Form students.

During the assembly, we learned about some of our local heroes who fought in the Great Wars and reflected on the incredible sacrifices they made for the freedoms we enjoy today. It was a moving reminder of the importance of remembrance, not only for those who served in the past but also for those affected by conflict in the world today.

Poignant readings were brought by Olivia, Sibella and Evan. James and Sam played The Last Post, creating a powerful and emotional moment of silence as we paid our respects. Our A Level Music students, Seren and Hayden, also provided a beautiful piano duet, giving everyone a chance to pause and reflect.

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Reverend Piercy for leading us in prayer and helping us to think about how we can each play our part in building a kinder, more peaceful world.

Our Gardening Club has been busy throughout the autumn term, making the most of the season to enhance our school grounds. Students have been planting a variety of trees and shrubs, helping to create vibrant and welcoming green spaces that will be enjoyed for years to come.

Alongside planting, the club has been constructing a new pond, a project that is already transforming the area into a wonderful habitat for wildlife. They have also been working hard to tidy up fallen leaves, keeping the grounds neat and safe while embracing the beauty of the season.

It’s been fantastic to see students collaborating, learning new skills, and taking pride in the results of their hard work. Gardening never sleeps, and the dedication of our club members shows just how much can be achieved with teamwork, creativity and a little patience. We look forward to sharing more updates as the pond develops and the planted areas continue to grow and flourish.

On Tuesday afternoon, our Sixth Form football team battled through wet, muddy conditions at home in the Welsh Cup. They faced Dinas Bran and gave a strong performance despite the weather. As a result, the match proved both challenging and memorable.. Despite the challenging weather, the team delivered a strong performance, showing skill, determination and teamwork throughout the match.

Their efforts paid off with a 3-0 victory, securing their place in the next round of the competition. A fantastic result and a great display of resilience from our players!

On a drizzly but determined morning at Wrexham Football Club, our Year 8/9 girls stepped onto the pitch with purpose. They competed in the North East Wales rugby play morning, showing energy and spirit throughout.

The team celebrated a well-earned win in one match. Meanwhile, they put up a strong fight against a tough Brynhyfryd side. As a result, the girls walked away proud of their efforts and teamwork.
