School Blog (30/04/21)

Welcome to the School Blog. Although we saw some rain this week, students eagerly embraced the fresh air during leisure time, even with cooler temperatures.

We have re-launched our extra-curricular programme. Students learned about the opportunities during registration. Follow this link to view the upcoming provisions.

Impressive learning occurs in the building throughout the week. Students undertaking assessments in the upper and senior school focus intensely, putting tremendous effort into their studies. The Centre Determined Grades process is now fully underway, with assessments lasting approximately four more weeks. It is crucial for students experiencing difficulties to talk to their teachers about any challenges. We strive to support everyone throughout the process. We have just completed Assessment Point 1, and information has been published to all parents concerned.

I hope you viewed the short message I sent out on Wednesday regarding expected standards in school. Our appearance reflects our work ethic and readiness to learn. Thank you very much for your support in these matters.

Our new build is progressing rapidly. The flexibility and adaptability shown by all staff and students deserve special praise as we often need to reschedule rooms and routes at short notice. This will continue for several weeks, particularly when Willmott Dixon addresses the roof over the current music department and refurbishes the toilet blocks in the main building. We are consulting with Flintshire Local Authority to minimise any negative impact on our school. These works are scheduled to begin in the final half term of this academic year but will also affect the first half term in Autumn. If you have a moment, please watch the short video included here that charts our progress to date.

I hope you all enjoy the bank holiday weekend.
