Castell Alun High School celebrates another successful year of exam results, with students securing offers from prestigious universities and niche specialist courses alike.
An impressive 86% of all Castell Alun A Level grades fell between A–C. Over half of the grades awarded at A Level were A–B, and a quarter of all grades achieved A–A. The school boasted a perfect 100% pass rate, with no students failing any subject qualification. Additionally, 95% of all students attained 3 A-E grades.
Outstanding Individual Achievements
The school proudly announced the successes of every student. Leading the academic achievements was Matthew S. Matthew, who previously earned an A* in Maths a year early, added As in Further Maths, Physics, and Computer Science, totaling 4 As at A Level. Thrilled with his performance, he now plans to read Maths at either Cambridge or Warwick University. Matthew achieved the maximum possible scores in both Maths and Further Maths, placing him among the nation’s top students.
Eloise W earned 3 As and 1 A grade, and will now study Psychology at Cardiff University. Reuben M secured 1 A and 3 A grades, enabling him to accept an offer from Lancaster University to read Physics. Ben G, an entrepreneurial student, also earned 1 A* and 3 A grades and plans to further his successful business. Harriet W, with 1 A* and 2 A grades, is excited to study History at York, while Daisy F, who also achieved 1 A* and 2 A grades, will read Law at Liverpool.

Additionally, several Castell Alun students will embark on degree-level apprenticeships due to their excellent academic and practical performances. Words from the Leadership
Asst. Headteacher and Sixth Form Director, Mrs. Sarah Edwards, commented, “In the context of the post COVID re-balancing of A level grades nationally, I simply could not be prouder of our students this year. I would like to pay testimony to our staff, who give so selflessly of themselves in order to ensure that our students are able to perform to the best of their ability year after year. We are thrilled that the entire cohort has taken the next steps to living their dreams through the education they have had with us, but we are actually just as happy that they have become engaging, rounded individuals, who will doubtless contribute really effectively to their local areas and, in many cases, nations.”
Headteacher, Mr. Colin Ellis, remarked, “In these changing times, this is a tremendous achievement for everyone connected with Castell Alun High School. To see the delight on students’ and parents’ faces makes everything worthwhile and we really want to acknowledge sincerely also the significant contributions of our primary schools, who played a pivotal role in these accomplishments, and yet sometimes are forgotten in the melee of emotions. Our Sixth Form will continue to flourish and we are truly indebted to all parents and staff who have tirelessly supported these young people in achieving such great results.”
