Welcome to this week’s edition of our school blog. We are delighted to share a range of inspiring stories, celebrations and achievements from across our community. From our World Book Day assembly to remarkable individual success, there is much to celebrate.
Most importantly, we hope you enjoy reading about the wonderful things our students have been doing both in and beyond the classroom.
Inspiring a Love of Reading: Our World Book Day Assembly
Yesterday’s Lower School Assembly focused on World Book Day and celebrated the importance and joy of reading. Led by our English Learning Area and Literacy Coordinator, the assembly highlighted how reading can inspire imagination, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.
Oliver and Naomi from Year 9 shared thoughtful readings and reflections on the power of stories. They also explored how books can transport us to new worlds and ideas. A musical highlight of the assembly was a fantastic vocal duet from Tamsin and Grace in Year 8, who performed When I Grow Up from the musical Matilda.
The song beautifully captured the sense of curiosity, imagination and possibility that reading can inspire in young people. Furthermore, the assembly reinforced our school’s strong commitment to developing a love of reading both in and outside the classroom.
Reading not only supports academic success but also builds vocabulary, creativity and empathy. Therefore, events like this remind us that reading is not just a skill, but a lifelong source of enjoyment and inspiration.
Year 7 World Book Day Door Competition

To celebrate World Book Day, our Year 7 tutor groups have been busy transforming their classroom doors with characters, images, quotes and scenes from their favourite books. It has been wonderful to see so many creative displays around the school. Moreover, students and staff worked together to bring their favourite stories to life.
On Wednesday morning, Mr Ellis visited each classroom to judge the fantastic designs. The standard was incredibly high. However, after much consideration, 7O were named runners-up, while 7M took first place and won the competition.
We will share more images of the fantastic work next week.
Outstanding Community Volunteering

We are delighted to celebrate Seth’s fantastic volunteering achievement. This week in Wrexham, Seth received the Premier League Community Captain Award. The award recognises individuals who show outstanding dedication to club-led community projects.
This honour highlights Seth’s commitment to helping others and the positive impact he has made on local lives through his volunteering. We are incredibly proud of Seth for representing our school and community in such an inspiring way.
Hallie’s Incredible Achievement

We are incredibly proud to share some fantastic news from our school community. Team GB has now officially announced its selections for the upcoming U16 Junior Women’s Ball Hockey World Championships. Hallie has earned her place among the squad.
Hallie is one of only 20 players nationwide chosen to represent Great Britain in this prestigious international tournament. This year, the championships are being hosted here in the UK and will take place in Sheffield from 3rd to 5th July.
Hallie’s dedication, talent and determination have brought her to this remarkable milestone. Meanwhile, she will compete against some of the world’s top junior players, with teams travelling from the USA, Canada, Slovakia and Czechia to take part.
We are thrilled to celebrate this achievement with Hallie and her family. Her hard work, both on the rink and off, has truly paid off. We know she will be an outstanding ambassador for both Team GB and our school.
In Closing
As we come to the end of this week’s blog, we hope you have enjoyed celebrating the achievements, creativity and dedication of our wonderful students. Their enthusiasm, talent and commitment continue to make our school community a vibrant and inspiring place to be.
