Spring Success and Exciting News
Welcome to the School Blog. Spring has arrived, and the days are gradually growing longer.
Urdd Eisteddfod Triumph
We are delighted to share that we achieved success once again at the Urdd District Eisteddfod/ Urdd Eisteddfod Rhanbarthol last Saturday. Our students had diligently prepared their poem recitals, performing both individually and in groups. Our Year 7 students triumphed, securing 1st place in the group recitation of the poem ‘Becso am y Bocsys.’ They are now set to compete in the National Eisteddfod.
In the individual recitation category, Henry from Year 7 earned third place, while Tawana from Year 8 secured second place for their rendition of the poem ‘Cais i’r Prifathro.’ This achievement marks our first competition in the older age categories in many years—truly a success to celebrate! Our Sixth Form group also excelled, coming second with their recital of the poem ‘Cwm Alltcafan.’ We are immensely proud of our students for competing at such a high standard through the medium of Welsh. Castell Alun proudly waved the flag, and we eagerly anticipate continued success at the national event. Ardderchog pawb!
CAFA Sound Bath Evening
Last week, we hosted our CAFA Sound Bath Evening, which reached full capacity, leading us to add a second date on 18th March. Attendees found the event profoundly relaxing and highly recommend joining the next session. The event will run from 6.30pm to 8pm.
Year 10 Ski Trip Preparation
This week, several of our Year 10 students visited the Chill Factore in preparation for their ski trip to Austria, departing next Friday. Everyone returned unscathed and encouraged by their performance. We are confident that all participants and staff will have a fantastic time during the first week of the Easter holidays. We look forward to hearing your stories!
Rugby Achievements
We would like to give a special mention to Cian and Jack, both Year 7, who play for the Mold U12s Rugby team. The team has advanced to the final of the RGC cup after several rounds of intense competition. Our lads are set to play in Pwllheli in May, and we wish them all the best—Pob lwc!
Clwyd Cup Success
In additional sporting news, our U13s Boys have won their first game in the Clwyd Cup and are ready for the next challenge. We have previously enjoyed significant success in this competition and hope to replicate that success this year.
Examination Preparation
Finally, we wish all our examination class students the very best as they prepare diligently for their practical examinations. Several students have already started their food technology and PE assessments, with more assessments scheduled just after Easter. This period is crucial for many young people, and we are here to support all students. Please stay in close contact with the school as needed.
Let’s hope the Welsh rugby team secures a win this weekend at the Principality Stadium and concludes the campaign on a high note!
