Examination Season and Achievement Ceremony
Welcome to the School Blog. Our school examination season is now upon us, and we want to extend a big llongyfarchiadau to all students who have recently completed their oral examinations in language subjects. Standards have been high, and preparations have been impressive. We are confident this will continue as students begin their A-Level orals next week.
Breaking with our previous tradition, we would like to remind all parents and guardians of Year 11 students about our Achievement Ceremony on Friday, 3rd May, in the school Sports Hall. This brief yet significant event acknowledges the hard work and efforts of all students, especially as they prepare for their external examinations. We ask all parents and guardians to be seated in the Sports Hall by 1.35pm. Although the public examination schedule prevents us from holding the ceremony just before students leave, we are eager to ensure this rite of passage is not missed.
Bulb Planting with Kehoe Countryside
As we approach May it was fantastic to see some of our lower school students involved in bulb planting with Kehoe Countryside recently. We take great pride in our surroundings and are committed to using our natural resources effectively to present the school in the best possible light.
Duke of Edinburgh Expedition
Pob lwc to all Year 10 students completing their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Expedition this weekend. Conditions look promising, and we are confident you are up for the challenge!
AURA Sport Euro Challenge
This summer, with the UEFA European football championships on the horizon, we are diving into the AURA Sport Euro Challenge. Our goal is to complete physical activities totalling the number of miles it would take to visit each country participating in the championships—9007 miles in total. This is not the first time we’ve undertaken such challenges, and we aim to be successful again. We are currently in week 3 of the challenge, which runs until 12th July 2024.
To achieve our goal, students from Years 7 and 8, as well as staff, are logging miles from various physical activities such as walking, running, cycling, and swimming. Students will also complete a mile every Friday during tutor time. The link to log miles is available on Google Classroom Year Group Notice Boards. We encourage all students to record their physical activity as soon as possible.
Sporting Success Stories
In sporting news, well done to Ella (Year 7), who played at St. George’s Park football ground for Crewe against Burton last weekend. Ella clearly has a bright future in football. Llongyfarchiadau!
Congratulations also to our Year 10 Boys’ Rugby team, who reached the final of the RGC Plate at Eirias Park this week. After a tough game, they were runners-up to a strong Ysgol Godre’r Berwyn team.
Lastly, da iawn to our Under 13s Girls’ Rugby Team, who competed in the WRU Community Eryri Cup this week. The team showed excellent teamwork, and we must highlight Annabelle (Year 7) for her superb try.
See you back here soon for the next School Blog!
