CAHS Joins RHS Campaign for School Gardening
We’re thrilled to announce that CAHS has joined the RHS Campaign for School Gardening. This brings exciting opportunities for hands-on learning and environmental awareness to our school. As part of this initiative, our students received a Growing Year Calendar and cress seeds from RHS School Gardening, sparking their enthusiasm for the new project.
This week, thanks to generous support from Keep Wales Tidy, some of our Year 11 students planted spring bulbs around the school grounds, adding vibrant color and promoting biodiversity. Additionally, we’ve welcomed a new bug hotel, offering a safe habitat for beneficial insects, further enhancing our school’s eco-friendly environment.
Our gardening plans don’t stop there! After receiving the Food Production grant from Keep Wales Tidy, we’ve begun work in the school quad to prepare for raised beds and a polytunnel. These additions will allow students to engage in year-round gardening, learning valuable skills in food production and sustainability.
This project not only enriches our curriculum but also helps foster a love for the environment. It also encourages our students to understand the importance of sustainability. We look forward to seeing the garden flourish and invite everyone to join us on this green journey!
