School Blog (05/02/21)

Welcome to the School Blog. Ella Fitzgerald once said, “Just don’t give up trying to do what you really want to do” – a fantastic reminder to keep pushing forward, no matter how tough things get.

Next week’s Wellbeing Week is a brilliant initiative. It’s essential for students to have time to catch up, consolidate their learning, and check in with their teachers. The focus on wellbeing, especially during these tough times, will hopefully provide a much-needed breather and help students come back refreshed and ready for the new term.

The virtual Year 9 Parents’ Evening sounds like a valuable opportunity for both students and parents to get the information needed for making GCSE choices. It’s great that the school is using technology to facilitate these important conversations, and the availability of information online should make it easier for families to prepare.

It’s fantastic that the Sixth Form Open Evening is up and running online. Having all the details on the school website is so helpful for prospective students. I’m sure the virtual talks will give current students a clear picture of what’s on offer for post-16 education.

The Year 7 History project on castles sounds like it’s been a huge success. It’s wonderful to see such creativity from students, whether they’ve designed castles on paper or built them in Minecraft. Kudos to Zak, Huw, Ella, and Menna for their impressive work!

As we navigate through February, let’s keep in mind Robert Brault’s words. We’re all facing challenges we never imagined, and it’s our resilience and support for one another that really make a difference.

Enjoy the weekend, and let’s hope for some positive news and good rugby results ahead!
