Prynhawn da,

As we draw towards the close of the public examination period, may we first congratulate our older students for their efforts, punctuality and general approach to this challenging time in their lives.  Collectively we are all very grateful that there only a few days left until the examination period is over!

Diolch yn fawr iawn for your support in the adaptations we have made to school uniform in recent days.  There are different approaches evident across schools around Flintshire and we hold our current practice under regular review with the intention of responding dynamically to any changes in the weather over the remainder of the term.

We have a convenient new way to share information with you about your child’s school life. From Monday 19th June, you will be able to access our new parent app and website. We appreciate that the information on the App may not be wholly accurate for the current academic year when you initially log on, however, in making the App accessible to you at this time, our intention is to check the viability and trouble-shoot any potential issues before we commence wide use of this facility in the new academic year.

Keen users of Twitter will have noticed that we intend to hold a CAFA Car Boot Sale on Saturday 1st July, from 10am to 12.30pm.  This event will include pre-loved uniform and text book stalls, plus a variety of other goods available at low prices.  To pre-book your place email cafa@castellalun.flintshire.sch.uk or pay on the day.  Stall holders entry and set up is from 9.30am, with last admission for stall holders at 9.55am.

A large group of Year 10 students participated in a two day Duke of Edinburgh expedition last weekend, with a further expedition planned next weekend also.  The many photos available on Twitter demonstrate just what a fantastic time everyone had and participants are buzzing about their experience and the skills they continue to develop as part of this programme.  Di iawn to everybody who participated and a great big diolch to those involved in putting the programme together, especially Miss Katy Gittins, School Duke of Edinburgh Coordinator.

An advance notice – on Tuesday 27th June all parents/carers of Year 6 students who will be joining us at Castell Alun in September 2023 are invited to attend our New Intake Evening starting 6.30pm.  We really look forward to meeting you!  On Thursday 29th June, we hold our New Intake Induction Day for the students themselves and this is always a joyous occasion as it marks the beginnings of new friendships.

Have a lovely weekend.
