It has been wonderful to see our new intake students in school today taking part in a Sports Festival arranged by Flintshire 5×60.  They have enjoyed taking part in a number of extra curricular activities including dodgeball, basketball, squash, dance, golf, tennis, cricket and football.  Thanks to Steven Dale, Gary Evans and Owen Roberts from Wrexham FC, Matty Downes from Hawarden Hammers, Jess Edwards from Buckley cheerleading, Ian Rowlands from Padeswood and Buckley Golf Club, Mike Herd from Penyffordd Tennis and Robert Ward from Pontyblyddyn Cricket, Deeside Squash club and Mold Magic for making this such a successful day.  We now look forward to the students joining us in September.

On Wednesday we held our New Intake Parents’ Evening. It was lovely to welcome so many parents and carers and we look forward to working closely with them over the next 5 or more years.

Congratulations to Owen Critchell, Oliver Critchell, Ruben Rees Slawson, Matthew Davies, Isaac Lecki, Toby Rees Slawson, Will Owens and Sam Morris who won the North Wales Tennis finals in Wrexham yesterday. The boys will now go onto the England stages in September competing in the North West Region.  I will keep you updated with how they get on next term.

Well done to Cerys Jones, Year 9 who brought her silver medal, that she won in the Karate World Champtionships in Holland, into school this week.

Almost 100 year 7 students visited the annual International Eisteddfod in Llangollen yesterday. Students took part in a multilingual scavenger hunt and enjoyed watching singing and dancing performances on the field. Many also had the opportunity to participate in craft activities and face painting. The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Roedd hi’n ddiwrnod llawn hwyl – It was a fun-filled day.

Over the last few weeks we have had Bronze, Silver and this weekend Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s expeditions taking place.  A huge thank you to Mr. Andrew Duffy and all of the staff who have given up their time for these expenditions.

Our Year 12 trip to Berlin and Krakow has arrived back safely and we are expecting our languages trip home tonight. Thanks again to all the staff involved in organising these trips.
