It is lovely to be back and catch up with friends. Unfortunately Mr. Hughes is unwell at present and the Governors have therefore appointed me to the position of Acting Headteacher.
I have accepted this position and am pleased to serve the school and our community in this way, knowing that I will be fully supported by both a highly experienced Senior Leadership Team and a family of very able and conscientious colleagues and students across the school.
Upon our return to school on Monday we received a telephone call from Estyn and were informed that we will be inspected Monday 25th September to Thursday 28th September. Therefore we are now making final preparations to greet the inspectors on the Monday and all parents/carers are warmly invited to meet the Reporting Inspector, Mr. Steven Pringle, at 5pm in the school hall on Monday 25th September . Many thanks to all the people who have already completed the online questionnaire.
Once again we have a vibrant Sixth Form population and have welcomed thirty seven students from other schools into our Sixth Form this September. Across all year groups our students have returned with energy and motivation to work hard and achieve success.
Nationally examination results have had a dip this year, due in part to reformed specifications and new examinations coming online across the country. Despite this we are pleased to announce that Castell Alun’s results remain very favourable in light of both the emerging local and national picture. Please check out our press releases on the website for further information, and to read about the fantastic successes of individual students.
We are currently collating information about student successes which have occurred over the summer break and will continue to promote all achievements through this Blog in the coming weeks.
I really want to thank you for your unswerving support and dedication to our school and I look forward to working closely with you over the coming weeks.
Paula Williams, Acting Headteacher
