GCSE Results 2024: A photograph of some of our GCSE students receiving their exam results

Students at Castell Alun returned with tremendous GCSE results this year. On Thursday morning, students and their families celebrated as the results were released.

With national grades now aligned with pre-pandemic levels, an incredible 29% of Castell Alun students scored 5 or more A* and A grades—a mouth-watering achievement in any year.

At the peak of academic performance, Emlyn P achieved an astounding 12 As, scoring maximum grades in each academic subject. Similarly, Dylan C-T and Olivia G both scooped 10 A grades, along with additional A grades. Furthermore, Angus G, Lucy B, and Louie C secured 8 As, in addition to numerous A grades. Meanwhile, Mabli M, Sofia G, Alfie H, Freya J, and Georgia M delivered 6 As each. Notably, some grades are still under review, so these tallies could increase even further!

Colin Ellis, Headteacher, said, “Congratulations to all our students, and a big thank you to our staff for their dedication and commitment, as well as to parents, the local community and our primary schools for their support. At Castell Alun, we focus on helping each student reach their potential and pursue their future aspirations. We’re proud of what has been achieved, and now it’s time to celebrate these successes.”

Neil Eve, Student Development Manager for the Year 11 cohort, added, “We are absolutely thrilled with the results today. It’s an anxious time for many and our students’ hard work has been rewarded, providing each of them with a clear pathway for next year, whether in education or indeed, the world of work. We hope to welcome great numbers of Year 11 students from across Flintshire and Wrexham into the Castell Alun Sixth Form next week, and we wish the very best to others who have achieved places on great apprenticeship schemes or secured employment. Irrespective of how the next steps unfold, every single one of our students will remain part of the Castell Alun family.”
