Celebrating the Successes of All
Staff and students at Castell Alun High School were thrilled with exam results this year, with students accepting offers from their chosen universities, pursuing desired employment, or opting to broaden their horizons further through travel around the globe.
In a bumper year at Castell Alun, the school saw the number of top-end A* and A grades awarded increase greatly. Indeed, at the very top end, the number of A* grades achieved has more than doubled from last year’s impressive haul, with A grades also increasing significantly.
Beating previous school records, this year’s results represent one of the most successful sets of outcomes ever achieved at Castell Alun. Across a truly comprehensive and inclusive Sixth Form intake, students secured exceptional results at every level, with a clear increase in the number of higher grades awarded. With some results yet to be confirmed, these figures are only likely to improve further.
The school is proud of the achievements of every student, each of whom has worked hard to realise their ambitions and secure their next steps.
At the very pinnacle of academic performance were Alfie and Noah, who both achieved an incredible set of straight A* grades across all of their subjects. Alfie now intends to read Medicine at the University of Exeter, while Noah will read Human Social and Political Science at Manchester.
Several other students also achieved two or more A* grades. Angus will study Biomedical Science at the University of Sheffield, Spencer is set to read Physics with Astrophysics at the University of Bath, Emlyn will study Computer Science and Mathematics at Durham University, and Dylan will pursue Mathematics and Physics at Durham University.
Further A* grades, along with A grades, were achieved by Magdalena, Olivia, Rosie, Ruby, Noah and Ella. These students, along with countless others at Castell Alun, also achieved an impressive number of A grades.
Asst. Headteacher and Sixth Form Director, Miss Sarah Edwards, commented:
“We are all thrilled for our students. They are understandably incredibly excited about their next steps and each of us realises that hard work and endless endeavour led them to this place.
“I have no doubt that all of our students will enjoy the celebration of their results over the coming days, before re-focussing on the next steps. Everyone at Castell Alun wishes them the very best as they move on to their respective next stages.
“Each of them owes a debt of gratitude to their families and teachers, which should also be mentioned, but today belongs to the students, of course.”
Headteacher, Mr Colin Ellis, remarked:
“We are immensely proud of our students and absolutely delighted with these results. They represent an exceptional set of outcomes and stand among the strongest achievements in the school’s recent history.
“What is particularly pleasing is that these successes have been achieved across the whole cohort. While we celebrate the outstanding individual performances of our highest achievers, we are equally proud of the many students who have fulfilled personal goals, overcome challenges and secured the destinations they aspired to.
“While today is rightly about celebrating our students, their success reflects the efforts of many people. I would like to thank our staff, families and our partner primary schools, who help lay the foundations upon which these achievements are built.
“These results demonstrate what can be accomplished when schools, families and the wider community work together to support young people to fulfil their potential.”
