Students at Castell Alun returned really strong GCSE results again this year.

At the peak of overall academic performance was Maisie Dunn with a wonderful haul of 9A*, plus further A grades. Carys Dent, Juliet Collis and Lauren Rice scooped a tremendous 8A* grades and many further A grades. Furthermore, Harry Foster achieved an excellent 7A* with all further grades being A also. These high-flyers were followed very closely indeed by Amelia Thompson, Harry Beckett and Lasitha Ekanayake. Indeed, 25% of all students at Castell Alun achieved at least 1A* grade. A number of students have grades yet to be confirmed also, and so tallies are likely to rise further!

Headteacher, Colin Ellis, commented, “Our 2026 GCSE results are very pleasing and there are some outstanding individual achievements amongst this year’s cohort. Students should be immensely proud of what they have accomplished. I would like to thank our staff, parents and carers for the support they have given our young people throughout their journey. As a community school, we also recognise the important contribution of our local primary schools. Today is about celebrating our students’ success and wishing them every happiness and success for the future.”

Castell Alun Student Development Manager for the Year 11 cohort, Andy Duffy, added, “We’re all incredibly proud of our students. They’ve given so much time and effort to their studies and our students’ hard work has finally been rewarded. It’ll be great to welcome lots of new students to Sixth Form Induction on the morning of Tuesday 1st September and catch up with the former Year 11s on the following day also. We are very fortunate that so many students want to stay on at Castell Alun for advanced studies, and we’re really thrilled about that, but whether they want to remain in education or enter the world of work, what really matters is that they can follow their dreams and strive to be the best versions of themselves that they can be.”
