School Blog (17/11/23)

Today in school, we all participated in Children in Need Day in a variety of ways. All students enjoyed the general knowledge quiz during registration time.

During periods 1 and 2, students in Years 7, 8, and 9 walked one mile around the school campus (the equivalent of the length of the UK in total!) for the cause. There were all kinds of fun activities available to students in all year groups during break and lunchtime. Without a doubt, one of the most popular events was the opportunity for students to sponge Mr. Ellis!

A number of teachers participated in the ‘beat the teacher’ sporting competitions at lunchtime, and our Sixth Form decided to wear their pyjamas for the day. Although we support a serious cause, which is no laughing matter, we deliberately set up the day to be a fun occasion in order to raise valuable funds.

Please donate as you are able through the School Gateway.

Diolch yn fawr to all parents and students who attended our Year 13 Parents’ Evening last night. The event was well supported, and it was clear that everyone in attendance found the evening to be a useful touchpoint with teachers as our eldest students prepare for their trial examinations and begin the final leg of their journey towards their external examinations.

Pip Lantos, our School Rugby Hub Development Officer, has been very busy over recent weeks. In partnership with Mold RFU, she constantly encourages our youngsters to enjoy the challenges that rugby offers and has organised multiple events and competitions for both girls and boys around the local area. A brief reminder to Year 11 parents/carers: we recently sent out a short questionnaire about your child’s experience in school. We would be very grateful if you could complete this by 23rd November. Diolch.

CAFA will once again sell Christmas trees and wreaths this year after the success of previous years. If you would like further information, please take a look at the poster below. You may place an order now using the information provided, and all orders must be submitted by 29th November so that everything can be collected in good time from Yew Tree Bungalow, Wrexham Road, on Saturday, 2nd December, between 11 am and 1 pm.

Ardderchog to India-Bo and Sasha (both Year 10) for their performances in the Welsh U15 girls’ football team against Norway and England recently. These girls have both reached the pinnacle of many students’ aspirations—to represent their country on the international stage.

Also this week, our Year 9 boys’ football team delivered a fantastic performance against strong opponents, narrowly beating Rhyl High School 2-1.
