Friday 7th September 2018

I hope you have all enjoyed a lovely summer.  The unseasonably hot weather remained with us for the majority of the holiday, for which I am sure we were all thankful.

It is lovely to welcome so many new students to school, especially those joining us in Years 7 and 12.  A good number of new staff have also joined us, and we are thrilled that both students and colleagues have settled in really well.  Our Sixth Form numbers remain extremely vibrant and we are fortunate that so many students have chosen to attend Castell Alun from other schools to continue their Post-16 studies.  Although a small number of Year 7 students have found it difficult to locate their teaching rooms, I can assure you that this will not be the case for long!

We were very proud to announce a strong set of examination results at both GCSE and AS/A Level, and these results compare favourably with all schools across North Wales.  These wonderful achievements pay testimony to the hard work and endeavour of all students, the drive and commitment of our school staff and your unswerving support as parents/guardians in partnership with us.

As we continuously look to improve our school, please be aware that Study Club will now run on Monday and Thursday evenings each week, starting on Thursday 13th September, and buses will support this initiative as has been the case in previous years.

On Tuesday 11th September, we will be holding a University Application Open Evening in the School Hall for Year 13 students with and parents/guardians.  Anyone who is interested is welcome to attend.

On Thursday students in Years 7, 9 and 12 will have their photos taken, for use on our in-house School Information Management System (SIMS).

We look forward to celebrating the successes of all of our students over the coming weeks and I will ensure that such triumphs appear regularly in this blog.

Enjoy the weekend.
