8 Mai 2026
Welcome to this week’s School Blog, where we are proud to celebrate the many ways our students continue to demonstrate our core values of respect, determination and honesty in everything they do.
From Year 8’s engaging Royal Navy STEM Challenge Day, to the dedication shown in rehearsals for School of Rock, and William’s incredible achievement in reaching the regional finals of a national competition, there is so much to recognise and celebrate.
Alongside these highlights, our sporting successes and wider school opportunities reflect the commitment, teamwork and resilience shown across our community. We hope you enjoy reading about another fantastic week in school.
Royal Navy STEM Challenge Day

On Wednesday, Year 8 pupils had the exciting opportunity to take part in a Royal Navy Engagement Day. The day began with an informative presentation exploring the Royal Navy’s capabilities and global operations.
Pupils then participated in a STEM workshop designed to develop teamwork and problem-solving skills through a hands-on rocket-building challenge. The day culminated in a friendly competition to see whose rocket could travel the furthest, with plenty of impressive launches and enthusiastic participation throughout.
Pupils thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and their engagement and teamwork were excellent from start to finish.
Thank You to CAFA

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the CAFA group for their generous funding and ongoing support.
Thanks to this funding, we have been able to restock our library with a wide range of new books, many of which were selected based on recommendations from our students. It has been fantastic to see more pupils using the library as a result, along with their enthusiasm in suggesting further ways to improve the space.
In addition, the funding has allowed us to purchase extra books for our intervention groups, supporting the development of reading skills across the school. These resources are already making a meaningful difference, helping to build pupils’ confidence, enjoyment and progress in reading.
We are very grateful for CAFA’s continued support in enriching our students’ learning experiences.
School of Rock Is Nearly Here!

Rehearsals are rocking as we gear up for School of Rock, hitting the stage on Tuesday 7th, Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th July.
This year’s show features our biggest cast yet, with students throwing their energy, talent and heart into every rehearsal. The buzz behind the scenes is electric — and it is shaping up to be a must-see event.
Tickets go on general sale Wednesday 13th May at 8am.
Even if your child is not in the show, coming along means supporting creativity, confidence and the arts in our school — and enjoying an awesome night of live theatre and rock anthems along the way.
Bring friends. Bring family. Bring the noise. Come and support something special.
National Youth Monologues Competition
We are delighted to share some fantastic news about William in Year 8, who has achieved outstanding success in the National Youth Monologues competition.
Out of an incredible 4,000 entries, William has been shortlisted to the final five in his age group and will now go on to compete in the North Regional Finals on 17th May. This is a remarkable achievement, and he will be representing a wide region, including North England, North Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
If successful at the regional stage, William will progress to the National Final in June, where he will have the exciting opportunity to perform in a West End theatre.
We are incredibly proud of William’s dedication and talent, and we wish him the very best of luck in the upcoming finals.
